First Tracks Cottage

Fraternité-sur-Lac, Lac Supérieur, Québec

Activities at the Cottage

Guests can enjoy the refreshing summer breezes on the terrace while admiring the view of Lac Supérieur and Mont-Tremblant. During fall, the mountains are ablaze with colour, winter brings serenity with an abundance of snow and spring and summer offer fresh, clean mountain air.

A large deck surrounds half of the cottage. On the deck, guests are encouraged to enjoy the outdoor furniture, including relaxing loungers, comfy sitting chairs, a large table for al fresco dining, plus a gas firepit.

On the ground level, the private hot tub offers users privacy. Tucked around the corner from the hot tub, guests can enjoy gathering around a wood firepit which offers magnificent views of the night sky during the summer.

Inside the chalet, on the main floor, guests will immediately relax while the wood burning fireplace crackles and warms hearts and hands. Downstairs, the action is high energy as the foosball table ensures memorable evenings between friends and family.

Private Club & Lake Access - Club de la Pointe, Lac Supérieur

Spring, summer and fall are fabulous times to take advantage of the clay tennis courts that overlook the lake – the best views you could ask for while exercising and having fun with friends! Also open for summer:

  • Pétanque – learn how to play this 100-year-old game.
  • Terrace Pods: Next to the activity pavilion is the perfect spot to relax and eat lunch. Each bistro set has six chairs with tables.
  • Guests can meditate and enjoy the views from a lakeview social pod. Each one of the eight deck pods has 3 loungers, perfect for stretching out.
  • Firepits (summer & winter). First Tracks offers its guests their own gas firepit and wood firepit but more firepits (with wood) are nestled among the trees on Club de la Pointe’s peninsula. Enjoy the night sky from whichever firepit you select! (Note: all wood-burning firepits are not to be used during fire bans.)

Guest of First Tracks enjoy all year-round a(an):

  • Indoor gym (weights, elliptical trainer, stationary bike, resistance bands, mats) with views of Lac Supérieur (washrooms and shower are available inside the gym)
  • Kids’ Club Activity Building. Kids (of all ages) enjoy ping pong, air hockey, foosball or create art at the craft table – washrooms also available!

Winter is special at First Tracks! Club de la Pointe offers:

  • When the weather is cold enough the volleyball court is transformed into a lit ice rink, offering skaters views of the snowcapped mountains. You will need to bring your own skates.
  • Snowshoeing trails can be discovered on guided family tours that cover approximately 2 km. The tour occurs once a week in the evening; headlamps and snowshoes provided but reservations are required.
  • For First Tracks guests wishing to explore the region on their own, snowshoes and headlamps can be reserved by emailing leclubdelapointe @ outlook.com. You can email any time before or during your stay. Supplies are limited.

Tremblant area

The south side of Mont Tremblant dazzles as it seamlessly combines world-class amenities with a local neighbourhood feel. Visitors to the bustling south side can enjoy a multitude of high-end boutique shops, be pampered at a luxury spa located on a river’s edge or enjoy renown cuisine in one of the many fine dining restaurants; all the while remaining in a quintessential mountain setting.

Guests of First Tracks, located on the north side of Tremblant, a twenty-minute drive from the base of the ski resort, will revel in its close proximity to the south side action but enjoy the natural beauty and quiet of the Lac Supérieur region. But take note: the north side of Mont Tremblant (Lac Supérieur) will astound guests with its options for outdoor activities, food and culture.

First Tracks is minutes away from Parc National Mont Tremblant. This immense park was the first created in the province of Quebec and offers visitors access to over 400 lakes and streams where guests can swim, fish or canoe. Other favourite activities include exploring hiking and mountain biking trails, groomed Nordic trails, and the heart stopping Via ferrata du Diable experience (an activity between hiking and climbing – reservations required).

More nature opportunities abound close by including: the Centre d’acess à la Nature (which offers a hike to a waterfall), the Mont Nixon hike (a 5-mile loop), and the newly opened Sentier des Cimes, where visitors climb above the treetops!

Groceries and scrumptious restaurants are never far from First Tracks. L’Etalage Marché Gourmand offers exquisitely pre-prepared local food, groceries and a SAQ (wine & beer). A larger grocery store is a short drive away in St. Faustin Lac Carré. The closest restaurant, Bistro Le Loch, is within walking distance, located on the shores of Lac Supérieur. Just down the road towards St. Faustin, Le Rustrique Bar & Restaurant offers local fare at a reasonable price. In summertime, the local Casse-Croute (offering amazing french fries) is just located just past the Lac Supérieur Hotel de Ville, about five minutes away.

Winter Activities

The Laurentians have been a winter playground for generations and the number of outdoor winter activities in the region keeps growing. At First Tracks we are certain you’ll make memories as you explore our favourite part of the region: the north side of Tremblant.

Within walking distance of First Tracks is Club de la Pointe which offers winter activities. Don’t forget to bring your skates (figure or hockey!) from home to take advantage of the lighted rink. Snowshoes and headlamps can be reserved before you arrive. For those who can’t give up biking in the winter, two fatbikes are available for use.

First Tracks takes its name from our love of skiing and especially our love of being one of the first (and last!) on the mountain. Since the cottage is so close to the North side of Mont Tremblant (10 minutes!), finding parking right by the lifts is simple, allowing you to be the first or one of the first skiing down the mountain.

Mont Tremblant is not the only mountain to ski or snowboard close to First Tracks. Smaller (and less expensive) Mont Blanc is a family friendly resort that is 17 minutes door to door.

Parc National du Mont Tremblant is 11 minutes down the road from First Tracks. The park is a huge territory of outdoor fun offering freedom to escape. Favourite winter activities include winter walking on trails, sledding, Nordic skiing on groomed trails and snowshoeing following trails. Also offered in park are trails suitable for fatbike riding. Note there is a cost to enter the park and Nordic ski passes must be purchased; preferably in advance.

Summer Activities

In the heat of summer, First Tracks guests will want to take advantage of multitude of water activities available. With access to Club de la Pointe, there is no need to buy or rent water sports equipment – it’s all included in your rental. Water equipment waiting for you to enjoy include: kayaks, canoes, stand up paddleboards (SUPs), and pedal boats.

While guests can swim in clean water of Lac Supérieur, there is a heated, salt-water pool with a lifeguard on duty for guests looking for a different water experience. Pool chairs are available and there is no need to get there early in the morning to reserve a chair with a towel as there are plenty of chairs available for use. Lake/pool towels are provided at First Tracks in the recreation room.

For guests looking to partake in a classic Laurentides summer activity, summer is the time to jump into Lac Supérieur from the swimming dock. By the end of your summer stay we hope you have perfected your cannon-ball jump or your shout-with-joy yell as you enter the water. Once in the water, swim to the nearby floating raft.

While there is no sandy beach adjacent to the lake (for environmental reasons), young children will delight making sandcastles in the sand near the volleyball courts. Other lake swimming access points, offering more privacy than the swimming dock, are scattered around the Club de la Pointe peninsula.

Of course, guests who have their own water equipment (fishing anyone?) can take advantage of the over 400 lakes and rivers in nearby Parc National Mont Tremblant. Ensure you the proper licenses if fishing is part of your holiday – one-, three- and seven-day licenses are available.
